“There’s something about Stevie Nicks. She’s become over the years, a high priestess for women, an emblem of some mystic ‘70s magic, as she sings and sways in her scarves. Even when she makes an appearance on the commercially blotted Dancing with the Stars, she still manages to pull off an enchanting appearance.”

“…Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, multi-Grammy award winner and living legend Stevie Nicks came to perform two songs. Loved how she got into the spirit of “DWTS” with her skirt of many fabrics and chain mail on her gloves..”

URGENT: Stevie is sick. NYC Events Cancelled!

Wow. Speedy recovery. I had tickets to her 9/14/01 show in NYC and that show was cancelled because of 9/11…now ObL (again). I hope the Webster Hall event is rescheduled because I have tickets….Stevie has honored the military with wonderful songs and poems and visits the wounded VA hospitals. She’s an Angel.

The back story on ‘Secret Love’ by Spinner

“I wanted to make it like my younger 25-year-old spirit blending with my 62-year-old spirit,” she offers. “Sometimes your young self, when you look back, is not very much different than your older self.” Indeed, despite the song’s older genesis, ‘Secret Love’ perfectly fits Nicks’ shiny new sound.

NYS School Administrators’ Pensions Enable Millionaires to Maintain Their Luxury Lifestyles

Wow. This is incredible.

Mr. James H. Hunderfund wins big with over 315k per year pension from the Commack Union Free School District. The school boards responsible for the approval of these ridiculous benefits should be voted out and sued. Reasonableness must be part of the negotiation and contract process.

GOP Denny Rehberg: Pell Grants Are Becoming The Welfare Of The 21st Century

Denny Rehberg

Here is another attempt to push down the struggling…I used Pell Grants and went on to earn 2 MS degrees and have never been on welfare. He’s a fool. The GOP are fools. Class war at its worst.

Demand for Quality School Superintendents Fuels High Salaries in Metro NYC / Westchester

Demand for quality school superintendents fuels high salaries | The Journal News | lohud.com.

High taxes often mean excellent schools and high scores and success. Private K-12 schools’ tuition is 25k up. Adequately funded public schools are a deal.

Syosset School Superintendent, Carole Hankin, Earns $500k Pay Package While Fresno Super Waives His $800k

NYT Editorial Mentions Syosset S.D.

Syosset school superintendent gets $500,000 pay package – NYPOST.com.

Carole Hankin

Base salary is 386k. At least the schools have excellent scores. It pays to work in an affluent town (That does not explain why Ossining, NY’s Superintendent earns his base). If the town does not want to pay her this salary then the town/district should not have signed the contract. Sure, complain after the fact but the town/district is responsible for allowing this salary/benefit to occur.

In other news...OPPOSITE OF Ms. Hankin's greed:

These union rules should be changed because nobody should be able to hold a job just because they got thru the door first.  In the private sector, seniority does not matter-you are out if you don’t perform (or if you are and older white man)….

Are US Workers Headed Toward Sweatshop Labor Wages? Inequality Soars

Daily Kos: Are US Workers Headed Toward Sweatshop Labor Wages?.

My mother worked in a factory and was represented by the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union (ILGWU). Our life would have been financially worse without that union’s representation. Business owners’ greed is worse now because egomaniacal greed has crept deeper into the GOP and The U.S. Chamber of Commerce (a joke). Corporate Welfare is a sin and is supported by the GOP.

Teachers cannot be comared to the average US worker because teachers have earned degrees and most US workers have not bothered to improve themselves. However, these outspoken ‘taxpayers’ cry that they have been short-changed: Maybe if these idiotic selfish Tea Partyish people worked harder they just might be able to earn more.

Governor Cuomo to Propose School Superintendent Salary Cap

Governor Cuomo to Propose School Superintendent Salary Cap | Governor Andrew M. Cuomo.

This will damage our schools. There is no way that NY public school districts could attract the best administrators with this incredibly low threshold. The Superintendent in my public school district rightly earns over 300k and our district has one of the highest average teacher compensation levels ($100k) and the highest student scores, Ivy League college admission rates, graduation rates, and overall success.
