IMO: Stevie Nicks is very smart. She is funny. Stevie is immensely talented. Miss Nicks is strong. She is a survivor. Stevie Nicks does not like to be told what to do. Stevie Nicks is the boss. Stevie is a caring and loving human being and this claim has been demonstrated by her acts of goodness and selflessness. Stevie is a poet. A singer. Stevie was/is a loving daughter and family member. Stevie Nicks is a life-long friend to a few lucky people. After attending two Q&A sessions (and viewing her documentary) this weekend I learned first-hand that Steve Nicks is a real person with a lot more substance than I thought was even possible. I chatted with her briefly about The Wiltern Show and shook her hand. I thanked her-that word, thanks, is small but is so very full of life-long emotions and memories. Many in attendance at these special New York events were awestruck by Stevie Nicks’ candor, style, class, and iconic stature. Stevie Nicks will forever be a force rarely matched.
Nicks credits her fans and their support or allowing her to tirelessly tour and promote “In Your Dreams” and help her make it the modern day music business success that it is. As such, she pointedly thanked those in attendance for their part in it.
“I’m not going to worry about record sales anymore and I’m not going to worry about what people think,” she said. “Because what really matters is what I think, because if I’m thinking good and I’m thinking happy, then what I do is going to turn around and make you feel good. So we just bounce off of each other. I throw the dreams out there and you throw them back at me. And that’s how we make this together. This is not anything that is done by one person. It happens because we’re a team. And you’re my team. You are. I mean that.”
I am a Bostonian. I attended college and grad school in Boston. My first professional job was on Boylston Street across from Copley Square. My first date with my partner was at the Prudential Center on Boylston Street. I’ve attended a few Boston Marathons. I have had many more firsts and life experiences within the immediate area of the bombings. As the hours pass I am drawn back to Boston…Boston is my home. RIP. Peace. Thank you to all the first responders.
Capture: I had been reading Twitter’s feeds about the Fleetwood Mac concert in Boston on 4/18/13 and then shortly after the concert wrapped (which included a lot of comforting words for the city and victims) my ‘news’ Twitter feed started popping with the MIT shooting and the chase to Watertown (long before the mainstream media picked-up the news)…and then by 4:30am I had to sign-off…at that time all reports had named two suspects (not the brothers) and that one supsect was dead (along with the MIT officer)….but when I got up at 7:30am the news was that the suspects were the two brothers….and then I spent the day following Twitter and the news…until the capture. It was a very obsessive day but I could not keep my mind off of my city. Peace.
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
19,000 people fit into the new Barclays Center to see Jay-Z perform. This blog was viewed about 74,000 times in 2012. If it were a concert at the Barclays Center, it would take about 4 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.
